Revealed: The final will of Burslem witch Molly Leigh
A recent trawl through The Sentinel’s archive has revealed something astonishing – a copy of the last will and testament of Molly Leigh, the so-called Witch of Burslem.
Molly’s story has enthralled the people of the Potteries for generations but over the last 265 years her tale has become blurred and most of the detail has been lost.
The copy of her will includes details of property in Burslem left to her family and her desire that part of the money from her estate be used each year to buy forty halfpenny loaves for the 'poor inhabitants of and widows of the hamlet of Sneyd and Burslem.
