Blue plaque unveiled for mother of modern witchcraft Doreen Valiente
TOURISTS are flocking to a block of flats where a blue plaque has been unveiled in honour of the “mother of modern witchcraft”.
Doreen Valiente was the first practitioner to speak openly about the ancient rituals and beliefs when a law banning them was lifted in 1951.
Her supporters say she ignited a pagan revival, which took witchcraft from being a misunderstood cult into one of the world’s fastest growing religions.
