I apologize.

I started an OP in this forum because I was offended by a word and how it was used. The word was religionists which when you look at it is not offensive. I got angry at the context if how it was used. And yes on more then one occasion by different posters, but today it was one in particular.

The post below is what I started my last post in it will give you what was in it.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/121897318

Where I was wrong is that I as a host of this room I used an OP to draw out the person who I disagreed with and that was wrong. I apologize to skepicsott for doing this. I should have addressed it in the OP or a PM.

Whatever my feelings were I should not have used done what I did. I was angry but not justified in doing this.

I am sorry

Justin

1. Good that you apologized, I missed the drama, as far as the word "religionist", I find it awkward...

to both type and I don't want to speak it out loud, for fear of a tongue twist or two.

It also seems to make a distinction where none exists between the religious and the really religious.

RELIGIONIST

a person adhering to a religion; especially : a religious zealot

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/religionist

Religionist

An arrogant, prideful, egoistic, religious person who believes his/her religion is the only true religion. They are deeply religious in their dogma/religion to such an extent they believe that is who they are. They are often times very legalistic and think they are better than others, especially other people who aren't members of their particular religion. People who are religionists are usually the biggest hypocrites.

Religious people are often times religionists due to the effect their religion has had on them over the years.

Jenny is so prideful about her religion, she is such a religionist.

A religionist takes legalism to the extreme.

Most religionists are so blind and arrogant they don't even realize how hypocritical they are.

Gee, I wonder which way it was used.

5. So now you're wearing a hairshirt, parading up and down declaring your penance?

Why not put some bells on as well, to alert as many as possible to your public display of how you were so persecuted but take the punishment? Maybe get a boombox or two to blast out christian "music" while you're at it?

Oh, look, he's got two mules with signs saying how sorry he's not, for getting all butthurt about something, he's being persecuted just like all christers are in the USA!

Sorry, but your post and attitude reflected the "look at me, I'm being persecuted" meme perpetuated by the rightwing anti-equality, anti-education, anti-science, anti-truth segment of the nation, which is thankfully losing influence.

Not even going to play the world's smallest violin. You're on your own.

7. At one point, that response meant something.

Not anymore. For decades we've been expected to swallow anything Christers have said as truth without evidence, or shut ourselves down because "everybody knows christians are the good guys," but since they've shown they're willing to do the exact opposite of what Christ supposedly commanded, with malice aforethought and extreme cruelty, the old deal of standing by and being silent is now broken.

I realize that YOU don't buy into the current hateful state of the religion, but I've not seen YOU standing up against the bastardization, nor many of those who claim to share your religion. Until there's an equally loud voice to shout the hateful segment down, you all share responsibility for the massive hate and potentially violent "Christian Warriors" who speak for YOU.

Nobody speaks for anybody else.

Your own words speak for themselves. Do you think that I would ever presume that someone else spoke for you? Of course not. That you presume that others speak for the whole of Christianity is YOUR problem. Not mine or HRM or anybody else's.

You've done a good job of letting your words speak for yourself, too. It's quite clear where you are coming from.

And with that, I'm out of here.

How rude you are being.

Yes, I get it. You are an 'ex fundamentalist'. It sucks you were raised that way. Congratulations for leaving it behind. Now maybe try leaving behind the rage or at least working through it instead of vomiting it on others who have done you no harm whatsoever.

Justin and I have little in common with regards to our 'religious' beliefs. However, I do respect his ability to communicate well and be open & intimate here with regards to his faith.

Apologizing takes more courage on a forum like this than the diatribe you posted.

we all have many things we should apologize for. We shouldn't feel shame when we do it.

Are you working your way through one group at a time to see how far you can push people? Or is bullying just part of your nature?
