Distance between church, state eyed

Should government boards invite clergy to pray before their meetings?

Is the National Day of Prayer a government endorsement of religion?

Is the State Board of Education letting academic soundness or personal religious fervor drive its curriculum decisions?

These questions took center stage at a First Amendment workshop Saturday afternoon at TriPoint. Speakers ranged from church-state watchdog lawyers to a statewide lobbyist and a local Baptist minister, all of whom rallied for more distance between religion and government.
