Catholic online demanded Shepard Smith be punished and relieved of his job for a month

for what they viewed as him " sneering at the Church" on the 12th during the conclave when he suggested that the church should ordain women and that the church might not be evolving with society etc.. Read this from Catholic Online.

WASHINGTON, DC (Catholic Online) - Fox News had better address very quickly the behavior of news anchor Shepard "Shep" Smith between 3 and 4 p.m. on the first afternoon of the Papal Conclave, Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

<snip>

As the transcript shows, this was not just a casual question, asked in good humor. This question was framed by Shep Smith as a blatant injustice that the Catholic Church was required to remedy, period!

"Father, one of the questions people who are within the Church and those who watch the Church have is, "How can this church relate to a group of people in a large part of the world where social ideas are changing? Where this idea that women don't get to be part of things is just -- not understandable."

Father Morris patiently but thoughtfully tried to answer the question, but Smith kept interrupting and insisting that the Church had to ordain women priests. He asked sophomoric questions like, "How can the Church move forward and attract people?" and, "But the Church doesn't evolve with society?"

Then, of course, Smith had to throw in the "sex abuse crisis" and "coverup," making the easily refuted assertion: "If there were more women involved in serious positions of leadership, I don't think it would have happened in the same way."

Then it goes on to demand Shepard Smith be punished for it and some other comments.

This is probably the first time since I began posting here that I have defended an anchor on Fox News (?) but in this case Mr Smith deserves credit for asking questions in a forthright and direct manner that everybody else in the media (possibly excepting Bill Maher but he really isn't part of the media) seems afraid to ask.

I propose that Shepard Smith be promoted to head of Fox News.

You're so right that Shep Smith is the only sane anchor on Foxnews and I've always wondered what keeps him there. They haven't been able to shut him down yet.

just think what could be done if they weren't wasting energy on things like marriage equality, priestly celbacy, birth control and the ordination of women. Maybe if they approved those issues, they could get down to work and tackle real issues like poverty, income inequality and peace!! Just saying!

For all the apologists point to the "good" the church does, how many children have gone hungry because they spent the money trying to meddle in other people's sex lives instead?

ramp up the fake outrage and deflect deflect deflect.. but i think we all know the cat's out of the bag. the hierarchy has no desire for real reform and never will this is just blatant and transparent damage control and i give them no credit for pandering to latin america with some sort of priest to the fincas.
