AP - Though in some respects the NFL locker room is behind the times, pro football blazed plenty of trails when it comes to racial equality. When it comes to the acceptance of players who have unconventional religious beliefs, the NFL at times may not be quite as flexible.
Asked whether theres a certain type of player Colts G.M. Ryan Grigson hopes to bring to the organization, interim coach Bruce Arians said this: A high quality person who has passion for football and cares about faith, family and football.
But why is it relevant to care about faith? Is there any legitimate connection between belief in a Higher Power and the ability to demonstrate the kind of speed and/or power that makes a guy a pro athlete?
I believe in God. But I dont believe that belief in God should be a factor in employment decisions of any kind. (Except, of course, if a guy is applying to be a priest, minister, or rabbi.) This country was founded by folks who risked their lives in part for the freedom to practice their religious beliefs, including no religious beliefs at all. Folks who choose not to believe should never be disadvantaged.

(5,105 posts)You really think they all actually believe in what they tell their congregations? HA, ha.
It's all about the money. Sure, they can spout the stuff they rote memorized. Sure, it helps some, maybe most, not fear the inevitable, the unknown, the coming darkness.
But to claim, after all their fundraising and politicking, especially for a candidate from a "cult" that ALL evangelicals railed against, till the "bishop" who will get his own planet and many multiples of wives, just like his grandaddy, after death, met with Billy Graham, who took the years' long mention of Mormons out of his list of cults just a couple of weeks ago to affect elections--this does not align with any evangelical faith, though it's being forced into it, and those who buy into it are eating it up, like so much poisoned cheese in a trap.
Christers have DESTROYED Christianity in these united states. Since you have helped spread so much of their revisionist doctrine, YOU are complicit.
You should thank logic and science that there is no hell, other than the ones you created for yourself and others, your ideological enemies.
If you insist on believing in it, and wishing others into it, Go Thou and BURN likewise. The rest of us are tired of listening to your xian bullshit.

Most Jews (in my experience) never ask what you believe. It's not an issue. They only care what you do.

It's the extremists that ask.
