Update - Black Collar Crime

From Conservative Babylon, lots more Spiritual Leaders and Trouser-Snake-Handlers here: http://home.conservativebabylon.com/2012/07/03/black-collar-crime-round-up-july-3-2012/

Charged: Christopher Joseph Guardado, 48, volunteer first- and second-grade Bible teacher, Calvary Chapel Pacific Coast, Westminster, California, with two felony counts of lewd acts with a minor; i.e., sexually molesting two girls under the age of 14, repeatedly over a two-year-period. The girls and their families attended the church and considered Guardado a family friend. Guardado, who is being held on $1 million bail, is scheduled for arraignment August 3, 2012. -- Story: CBS Los Angeles, July 18, 2012; OCWeekly, July 18, 2012

Arrested: Luis Leonel Valdez, 29, youth minister and “officer,” El Paso Temple Salvation Army Church, El Paso, Texas, on suspicion of raping a 16-year-old girl he met through the church. An El Paso Police press release notes: “Investigators believe that there could be other victims and are asking anyone that may have been a victim to call investigators from Crimes Against Children at (915) 838-0049.” -- Story: KVLA, June 25, 2012; El Paso Times, June 26, 2012

Sentenced: Leon Waverly Jones, 57, founding pastor, Renewed Hope Christian Church, Baltimore, Maryland, to 45 years, 25 suspended, plus five years’ probation, following his conviction in April of eight counts of second-degree sexual offense committed against a teenage girl over a period of two years.

The Baltimore Sun reports: “The girl, now 27, was introduced to Jones by her mother, who participated in the abuse and was convicted of five counts of child sexual abuse.” The Sun also reports: “According to prosecutors, Jones … forced the victim to engage in oral sex with him…and to fondle and kiss her mother.” His church website says: “On November 21, 1992 in the Park Heights Multi-Purpose Building, Reverend Leon W. Jones, Jr answered the call placed on his life to lead and care for God’s people, and to carry out the vision God had given him. … Sixth of nine children, Pastor Jones is a strong advocate of the family and believes in order to have the abundant life that the Bible teaches, there must be a revival of Godly principles; spiritual commitment, family values, self-respect and most of all the love of God..." He is the devoted husband of Pastor Jacqueline Jones and the warm and loving father of eight children.”

Not guilty plea: Gary Joseph Doby, a.k.a. “Uncle G,” 66, former professor, Oklahoma Baptist University, accused of conspiring with third-grade teacher Kimberly Ann Crain, 49, to manufacture and distribute “inappropriate images” of as many as 14 of Crain’s students, allegedly photographed at Crain’s home and school. AP recounts: “Both have been charged with 18 counts of sexual exploitation of a child under 12 and one count of conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation,” while Crain is also “charged with one count of lewd molestation and 11 counts of possession of juvenile pornography.” The pair’s next hearing is scheduled for August 7, 2012, at which a trial date will be set. -- Story: AP, June 27, 2012

Finally...look, all you grumpy Protestants & non-believers! A Catholic crime story that's NOT about sex:

Guilty plea: Anita Guzzardi, 43, former chief financial officer, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, to embezzling more than $906,000 from the church to pay off personal American Express accounts and her Chase credit card. The Philadelphia Daily News notes: “A review of both the Chase expenses and one of the Amex accounts revealed that at least $370,000 in charges were comprised of cash advances and purchases at casinos in Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Key West, as well as in the Caribbean and Mexico, authorities said. Guzzardi also wrote high-dollar checks payable to herself, the D.A.’s office said.” Guzzardi, who was fired in July, 2011, is scheduled to be sentenced August 24, 2012. She could receive up to 21 years. -- Story: Philadelphia Daily News, July 2, 2012

The FBI, for example, reports:

There were an estimated at 84,767 forcible rapes reported to law enforcement in 2010 ... The rate of forcible rapes in 2010 was estimated at 54.2 per 100,000 female inhabitants
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2010/crime-in-the-u.s.-2010/violent-crime/rapemain

That's a rape every 6 minutes or so; of course that's not the same as prosecution or conviction statistics.

You've provided five sexual assault news stories here, mostly relating to charges, from about the last month. But in that month or so, there were probably something like 7000 new rapes

And one news story involving embezzlement.

I'm amazed that the forum's most accomplished nit-picker, hair-splitter and separater-of-pepper-from-fly-excreta made such an error.
