that looked exactly like the image on the right.

My father, who was somewhat of an insane artist, noticed the shape in the wood grain, and he painted it. But to his eye, it looked more like a ghost or a spirit. So that was how he painted it.

An apparition, mostly in shades of white. He told my sister it was an Angel, although he was basically an atheist. Did I mention he was kind of insane?

We have a picture of it somewhere, I need to find it.

Summary: Our editor told our reporter to check out some tree bark miracle thingy. Our reporter learned that an unnamed Mexicanguy once died in an auto accident somewhere around there. Our reporter also learned that a nice lady told the mayor of West New York that she had once seen a tree trunk that kinda reminded her of a picture Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our reporter really couldn't get any usable soundbites from the nice lady, so our reporter went to interview the mayor instead. Sadly, our reporter knows nothing about the mayor, except that he's been accused of computer hacking. So our reporter tried to get the mayor to say this was a miraculous sign that he would be acquitted of computer hacking charges, but the mayor wouldn't say that. But our reporter did get the mayor to say he does believe in god, so that soundbite is in the story! Next, our reporter tried to get the local archdiocese to say it was a miraculous sign. But the archdiocese only wanted to say is that people should come to church more often and should spend less time on discolored tree bark, but, hey! that was a soundbite, too! and so our reporter put it in the story with the other soundbite! At least give our reporter some credit here for really trying to do whatever could be done with this not-so-hot lead on some tree bark miracle thingy

From the link:

... The image was first spotted by Copantitla on Tuesday, and she immediately told West New York mayor Dr. Felix Roque ... who is facing a federal indictment for allegedly hacking into his rivals' computers ... Roque said <,> "But I am glad I believe in God" ... The image appeared after a Mexican man had been killed in a car crash in the area ... Newark archdiocese spokesman Jim Goodness called it "just some discoloration that resembles Our Lady of Guadalupe" ...
