"The Poor will not go to Heaven"

The Archbishop of Kampala Diocese, Paul Ssemogerere has called on Christians to work hard and break free from poverty if they are to see heaven in the afterlife.

Ssemogerere, was addressing mass at the priestly golden jubilee and episcopal silver jubilee celebrations for the retired ambassador of Vatican (Apostolic Nuncio) Archbishop Augustine Kasujja.

The celebrations which attracted thousands of faithfuls were held on Sunday in Mitala Maria, Mpigi district.

The prelate urged christians to use their God-given talents and the gift of life to uplift themselves from poverty, reminding them that God has no place in heaven for the poor.

“God will not entertain the poor in heaven. You will not go there. I will also stand at the entrance to stop you from going there. We have misunderstood the gospel. Being poor should not be misinterpreted to be without money,” Ssemogerere said.

"So, you're either rich or poor? There's no middle? So why lament the alleged loss of the necessarily non-existent middle class?"

I don't think the poor will go to heaven, personally.

Or the rich.

Or the humble. Or sinners. Or righteous.

So it's an outrage about somebody that nobody thinks is right, because he says something that they don't believe is true but which, given their understanding of what he *should* believe, fails to live up to his attributed values.

places where they spend their time listening to sermons about how God is blessing them because they are rich and have worked hard (using daddy's money as a starter). Then the pastor asks for money so he can live the abundant life too!

They walk out all smiling because they know they are "saved" unlike the poor who are being punished. They vote against aid to the poor because that would mean their taxes won't be cut but they love lotteries because the poor buy the most tickets in the hope of getting rich but the money goes to keep the rich from having to pay more school tax and pays for their kids' scholarships.

Like the ultra-wealthy Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen and others...

They haven't advocated for killing LGBTQ, feminists, and others yet, likely because they are too busy self-enriching themselves...

Another self appointed recipient of "divine enlightenment" straight from the Big Guy in the Sky no doubt. There is no evidence whatsoever for the existence of a idyllic paradise in the clouds. Just saying.....
