FYI: posting idiocy from RNS is frequently a Real Bad Idea.

You might want to:

a) do a slow read of the entire article.
b) google the author and screen for rightwing christian fascism
c) think twice post once.

On the other hand there is always self-delete when shit hits the fan.

Thus the self delete. Other times no, as usual, people mostly just get defensive and refuse to admit errors.

Some double down on the stupid even after being called out for it. It’s almost as if they think if they keep repeating it the stupid somehow gets less stupid.

Followed by other vague responses.

And no actual citations that might cause the instant poster any embarrassment.

You might want to follow your own advice before posting similar "attack posts" in future.

'Let our voices be heard': Churches march against immigration raids
From the article:

Churches were the backbone of the civil rights movement. Today, as President Trump and Republican allies continue to defend the raids, churches have emerged as the top sources of spiritual and material support to the mostly Mexican and Guatemalan workers targeted by the raids.
Some churches are going beyond comfort and material aid, with their response flaring into political opposition. The state’s Catholic, Episcopal, United Methodist and Evangelical Lutheran bishops denounced the raids in a joint statement Friday (Aug. 9).

Rev. William Barber calls on Democrats to host debate on poverty, racism

From the article:

The Rev. William Barber II, a progressive activist and pastor, addressed the executive committee of the Democratic National Committee on Friday (Aug. 23), calling on party leaders to host a presidential debate focused on poverty and to do more to address the concerns of poor and low-income Americans.

The co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign, named for the last major campaign of Martin Luther King Jr., Barber insisted that poverty touches all people and regions of the United States and overlaps with related concerns such as racism, voter suppression, healthcare, “ecological justice,” militarism and religious nationalism....

Asked about a potential poverty debate at a candidate forum hosted by the Poor People’s Campaign in June, however, all nine Democratic presidential hopefuls who attended — including former Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Kamala Harris — said they would support it.

The maddeningly untraditional and modern faith of Abraham Lincoln

From the article:

The recent rediscovery of a Bible once owned by Abraham Lincoln has renewed a long-standing debate about Lincoln’s faith and what role it played in his life and presidency. It has also reminded us how maddeningly untraditional and surprisingly modern his faith was...

Then there are those, most Lincoln scholars among them, who insist that Lincoln was an atheist, or at least an agnostic, and that his public use of God-language was merely the religious window dressing required of politicians in a religious age...

Obscured by the fog of these debates is the reality that the story of Lincoln’s faith was a journey, a progression. He was an atheist, then a seeker. He claimed to be spiritual but not religious, was churched though not converted. Ultimately, he was convinced of God’s existence but agonized over the meaning of Providence in a tragic world.
In other words, Lincoln’s faith was much like what we see among millions today.

Lashing out, making up ridiculous charges against people he doesn't like, spreading all kinds of nonsense, engaging in whataboutism and other propaganda techniques, denying the reality that's right in front of his face, etc.

I suspect that, like many of Trump's Twitter followers, gil's are imaginary too.
