Donor Tells Parents of Toddler With Cancer: I Won't Give Because You're Lesbians

Donor Tells Parents of Toddler With Cancer: I Won’t Give Because You’re Lesbians
By Hemant Mehta, April 17, 2019

Tiffany and Albree Shaffer found out earlier this year that their 18-month-old daughter, Callie June, suffered from advanced neuroblastoma. According to a news report, the cancer had advanced to the point where she was in need of 18 months of “chemotherapy, radiation treatment, a bone marrow transplant and surgery.”

She’s current in the hospital (and doing okay!) and her parents created a GoFundMe page to raise money for her treatment. But on the Facebook page where they’ve been providing updates on Callie June’s treatment, someone recently sent a message saying they were going to donate thousands of dollars… until they realized the girl’s parents were lesbians.

“My prayers for Callie. I was going to donate $7600.00 to her fund, but I found out her parents are lesbian. I’ve chosen to donate to St. Jude due to that fact. Sorry. I’ll still pray for her though but maybe it’s God’s way of getting your attention that she needs a mommy and a daddy, not 2 mommy’s,” the message read.

It’s a despicable statement coming from anyone, and even more perverse that a Christian would use a baby girl’s cancer as a way to demonize her loving parents.

They're Christians too. They just interpret certain verses differently. Or perhaps you interpret them differently. Hard to say, ya know?

I don't recall any verses in the Bible about going out of your way to be a bigoted asshole...but pointing out stuff like that is what got me kicked out of Sunday school to begin with and set me on the path of being a "recovering person of faith", if you will..

But at no time was he going to donate a dime. This is a common remark made by haters. I doubt he made a contribution to St. Jude.

Why was that ugly, perverse message necessary? Sometimes things just make you think: WTF?

to people whom they consider to be sinners. Why do you think some Christian preachers feel comfortable publicly calling for the execution of homosexuals? It's because that attitude is popular among Christians.

The "religion of peace and love" isn't always that, apparently. What would Jesus think?

Remember how Jesus treated the Canaanite woman? She pleaded with him to help her because he child was sick. He told her she was the wrong ethnicity, and likened her to a dog begging for scraps at the table. Only after she agreed with his characterization of her as less than human, and debased herself enough to make him happy, did he relent and heal her child.

According to that doctrine, the most vile people get go to heaven if they are Christians, even if it's a deathbed conversion after a lifetime of harming others. On the other hand, the most selfless and kind non-Christians go to hell to be tortured forever.

They are simply some anonymous asshole writing shit on a GoFundMe page.

The chance that this troll actually has $7600 to donate to anyone after his mom makes him pay the rent for his basement room in her house, is approximately zero.
