Oklahoma GOP Leader: "A Progressive Christian is Not a Christian At All!"

Oklahoma GOP Leader: “A Progressive Christian is Not a Christian At All!”
By Sarahbeth Caplin, October 23, 2018

Carolyn McLarty, A National Committeewoman to the Republican Party from Oklahoma, wrote an email bashing progressive Christians that was sent to every subscriber of the party’s mailing list.

Patrick Riley at The Lost Ogle shares the email that was sent out on Friday — you can read it here — calling it a “terrifying look inside the logic-defying brains of the people who run the State GOP.”

Here’s McLarty:

There is an anti-Trump “Evangelical Christian” group called “Vote Common Good” touring the country. Sound delightful, right? Wrong!

They are a Progressive Christian troupe that promotes a socialist agenda. They would like nothing less than to flip Congress away from Republican control, yet they say they are non-partisan.

Damn right they want to flip Congress. As we’ve noted on this site, Vote Common Good supports politicians who promote their evangelical values. And despite the GOP claiming to do just that, it’s the Democrats whose policies call for helping the poor, making health care more accessible, and caring for the “least of these.”

That’s the “socialist agenda” Christians like McLarty fear so much. She goes on the trash the group’s name and mission.

The “common good” is an idea right out of the Marxist Communist Manifesto. Socialism and communism have never worked. A market economy with private property, individual liberty, personal responsibility, respect for the dignity of life for every person, and the rule of Law does work.

I have no idea how she can promote the “dignity of life for every person” on the same weekend that we learned the administration wanted to literally define transgender people out of existence.

We have witnessed the mob rule antics of the Democrat left in Washington, D.C. recently. They are desperate to gain control of their “progressive” agenda. They are well funded, and are doing everything imaginable to grab power — even use “Christianity” as a cover.

What is a Progressive Christian? A Progressive Christian is not a Christian at all!

Progressive Christianity is another liberal theology. It is a feel good, do good, humanistic attempt to co-opt the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…

Know who else is pretty well-funded? Evangelicals.

Evangelicals or other so-called Christians who back drumpf, kidnapping, caging, drugging, torturing and killing brown children. Folks who condone rape and assault as long as it's a rich white guy. There is nothing truly christ like about evangelicals these days, it's all power and hating and stupid fears.

I don't remember hearing political crap from the pulpit when I was forced to go to church all the time. They used to care about what the Bible said and preached to that, no more. Not that they were good then, the Independent Baptist churches I was dragged to were pure white and strong segregationist. In the 70's they started politicizing with the Viet Nam war, I quit that year. But the preachers of the 60's and even the 70's that I knew would have strongly condemned Trump and his followers bombing his "enemies". They have strayed far from their roots and have become something else entirely these days.

They have always sought political influence. The only difference is they are more involved in national politics rather than local.

...however, it is apparently OK to say this when speaking of progressive followers of Jesus.

Therefore:
Why do not all so-called 'true Christians' and their churches speak out every Sunday, every day, from office, home and pulpit to say
"you who support #45 are not Christians".

It explains why we don't see millions of progressive followers of Jesus loudly and publicly denouncing the likes of Robertson and his clones. It would be bad etiquette for them to do so.

beliefs aren't everyone else's. Funny she says this considering that repugs are probably a source of discrimination against women...being that they (repugs) believe that a woman's place is in the home (and probably in bed too, or making dinner). Pathetic.
