Former Louisville pastor avoids jail time in sex abuse plea deal

Well, see, he's old and a, you know, "Man of God," so they let him off without any jail time. Nice, huh...? How about that?

Former Louisville pastor avoids jail time in sex abuse plea deal

A former Louisville pastor has accepted a plea deal on multiple sex offenses stemming from the abuse of three young sisters.

Prosecutors alleged Allen Lehmann, 80, abused the girls over the course of a decade when they visited his Louisville home. At the time, Lehmann worked as a pastor at Trinity Chapel Assembly of God church.

Lehmann entered an Alford plea, which allows defendants to maintain their innocence while acknowledging prosecutors may have sufficient evidence for a jury to convict.

He originally faced first-degree rape and sodomy charges. The agreement recommends a 15-year prison sentence that would be suspended, allowing Lehmann to be placed on probation for five years and be required to complete a sex offender treatment program, register as a lifetime sex offender and not commit any new crimes. If he doesn't comply, the prison sentence would kick in.

Meanwhile our prisons are stuffed with drug offenders serving stunningly harsh sentences. But yeah man’o’god walks.

"Men of god" are assumed to be better than the rest of us. Their crimes are more readily downplayed, their punishments less severe.
