*Trigger Warning* Hatemail sent to an Atheist Teenager

Remember Jessica Ahlquist? She was the Rhode Island teenager who filed suit against her high school to remove a banner in clear violation of the Establishment Clause. Since some have of late seen fit to minimize the kind of response atheists are used to receiving for doing what millions of Americans do without consequence every day--speak openly about their personal beliefs--I figure now would be a good time to remind people what kind words the theist community had for fifteen-year-old Jessica.

A few gems:

Remember when her own state representative, Democrat Peter Polumbo, went on the radio and called her an "evil little thing"? Yeah, that happened.

Jessica needed a security detail just to go to school. This is real. And it happens every time an atheist opens their mouth on television, or the radio, or the internet. And the response from our "allies" is often little more than a shrug and a very, very quick reminder that "Not all theists... blah, blah blah". If there's going to be meaningful dialogue between theists and atheists that shit needs to stop. Theists need to start taking atheist experiences seriously. That would be a meaningful first step.
