Catholic women given chance to lift 22-year-old excommunication by Lincoln bishop

http://journalstar.com/lifestyles/faith-and-values/catholic-women-given-chance-to-lift--year-old-excommunication/article_fd4fdc0e-0464-5a00-8bb1-44a4bb7ea6a6.html

...The women are members of Call to Action, a national organization that advocates for reform in the Catholic Church related to women's ordinations, LGBTQ rights and other issues.

Then-Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz issued a blanket excommunication decree to all the group's members in 1996, saying Call to Action was "perilous" to the Catholic faith.

...For the past 22 years, Call to Action members have sought to have the excommunication overturned, including a failed appeal to the Vatican in 2006. Pokora said when she approached current Lincoln Bishop James Conley in 2013 to start a dialogue on the topic, her request was denied.

...Conley still believes the organization poses a danger to the Catholic faith, according to an article in the National Catholic Reporter. And his offer to lift the excommunication applies only to those Call to Action members who have been part of the talks.

"What's so threatening about Call to Action?" you might ask. Well among their DANGEROUS positions are things like:

* The people of God are called to live lives rooted in the Gospel.
* The church is the people of God and the people of God are accountable to the Creator and each other.
* Faith communities have the responsibility to foster inclusivity and justice.
* Every individual has the right to act according to an informed conscience and the responsibility to promote the equality and dignity of all people.

There's no god in that sentence. God has never granted that right.
