Everyone knows the flu epidemic is raging in the United States, with the H3N2 strain only partially protected against by this year's vaccine. Nobody wants the flu, and this year's illness can be deadly.
Frequent handwashing and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers can help to decrease your risk, but exposure to those who are ill with influenza can still make you sick. One sneeze or residue left on furniture, door handles, or even a hymnal, is all it takes to send you to bet with a high fever, cough, and worse.
Consider skipping church services until the flu epidemic subsides. All that hand-shaking and Sharing the Peace is a sure way to expose yourself to whatever viruses have infected other members of your congregation. Why take the risk of falling ill and spreading the epidemic? The church will still be there when things improve, after all.
Instead, read something during the time you would be in church. As a lover of things scientific, I recommend a book on one of the sciences. Any science will do. Pay special attention to any foreword material on the scientific method, which will help you understand how science has learned so much in recent years. Learning stuff is good for the mind.

With a full pantry and a connection to DU who needs the outside world? (hehe)

Besides, I did get my flu shot, and it is effective to a certain degree. Reports are that immunization will also reduce the symptoms if you do get sick.
