http://religionnews.com/2017/11/13/catholic-cardinal-condemns-forces-of-division-and-fear/The bishops meeting began Sunday night with an opening Mass presided over by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican secretary of state, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of their conference. In his sermon, Parolin encouraged bishops to continue bringing the churchs voice to social issues and political debates.
The urgent need to welcome and integrate new waves of immigrants continues unabated, Parolin said. At the same time, the Catholic community is called, under your guidance, to work for an ever more just and inclusive society by dispelling the shadows of polarization, divisiveness and societal breakdown by the pure light of the Gospel.
Remember, this is the same institution that officially teaches homosexuality is "intrinsically disordered," which has historically shunned children born out of wedlock, and whose current leader has compared accepting the transgendered to Naziism. Clearly they're experts on dividing people, so I guess we should listen.

(42,641 posts)Like atheists defending intolerance if it concerns a group of atheists? I understand.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)You still think that a private group of atheists in Boston kicking out a Trump fan is "intolerance."
That's just adorable, g-man. Not sure why you think DU is going to sympathize with a Trump-humper but I guess that's the best you've got, and dammit you're going to ride it no matter what. Your hatred of atheism is so great, you'll embrace a Trump supporter to try and smear it. In doing so, you are perfectly illustrating one of the biggest complaints many atheists have with religion. So, thanks!
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)I understand. Really, I do.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)Hey, it works for you, and you get to hate on atheists, so win-win I guess.
I'm glad you keep bringing it up though, trying to get sympathy for a Trump supporter on Democratic Underground. That's surely a winning strategy.
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)Or not.
I notice that now you have decided to promote another meme, the "hate on atheists" meme. Good luck with that one.

(4,965 posts)The RCC is INSANELY intolerant to LGBTQ issues. But, yeah, that Trump humper got kicked off a private discussion board. Are you OK with MIRT kicking people off this discussion board?
But, again, LET THE RCC SLIDE ON THEIR BIGOTRY.

(42,641 posts)The Boston atheist was a member of a non-political group of atheists. Nothing like what you evidently assume.

Some gems:
Mr. Lauritsen (and our friend guillaumeb) are evidently both confused about how the first amendment right to free speech applies only to the GOVERNMENT and not to PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS. LMAO.
Poor little snowflake is upset that other members of Boston Atheists were pointing out Trump's hostility toward chuch-state separation issues. Remember, he's a victim of horrible atheist intolerance, according to guillaumeb. You need to feel sorry for him.

(4,965 posts)The guy was being a complete knob in the group and they kicked him out for that and then he cried like a baby about them hating Trump people.
So, why do you feel it is so important to bring that barely applicable reason up and then not go after the exclusivity of the RCC which is actually harming people?
trotsky
(49,533 posts)or perhaps even that kicking someone out of an atheist group is WORSE than fighting to deny millions of LGBT people full equality across the globe?
I honestly don't know. He hasn't said.

Boston Atheists kicks one guy out their club. The Roman Catholic Church calls millions of people intrinsically disordered and actively campaigns against the equalization of their rights. And this is a healthy comparison?
Don't bother responding to the question. The answer is "no".

(7,886 posts)Members of an incredibly divisive church calling for others to be less divisive? Classic RCC
trotsky
(49,533 posts)REAL intolerance is when a private group of atheists in Boston kick a member out because he's a fan of Donald Trump and doesn't care about the church-state separation issues in a Trump presidency, which the group was very concerned about. So really they had NO RIGHT to kick him out, even though he was directly in opposition to one of the group's goals.
Get with the program, won't you?
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)I forget that private groups can set any standards they want, unless they are atheists.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)The "unless they are atheists" is implied, of course. Because otherwise someone would have just exposed themselves as a raging hypocrite, and we know that can't be true.

(14,860 posts)Not to mention all the mice and roaches and such that like to nest in piles of paper. Ick. (Sorry about being intolerant of cockroaches, I'm working on it, I promise!) Eventually the intolerant fire marshall or someone from the intolerant health department is going to come by and intolerantly condemn your place and boot your ass out of it. What then? You'll be involuntarily intolerant. Does that even count?

(9,116 posts)I wouldn't want to be intolerant of their opinion and fight it in court. No, I'll go live in the woods, though there is a chance I'll be eaten alive by squirrels. Part of me would want to fight them off, but I don't want to be intolerant of their needs and deny them a meal.
Mariana
(14,860 posts)You're so intolerant for being made of flesh. But you're warm, so you'll be able to extend your tolerance to the snakes that will surely want to share your sleeping space. But the snakes might eat the squirrels. Aaaargh! What to do, what to do?
At least the snakes and the squirrels won't try to get you to read religious propaganda. So there's that. You won't be littering the woods, accumulating a bunch of paper that you can' t throw away because it would be intolerant to do so.
