DeKalb school teachers: Black History event was more religious presentation

Teachers at DeKalb County’s Cross Keys High School said a Black History Month program put on by the school last month felt more like a sermon on religion than a history lesson.

The teachers, who declined to be named fearing retaliation, said the presentation included a teacher dressed as Jesus and presentations on several biblical stories.

“The program featured examples of different religious and mythological figures portrayed by Cross Keys High School administrators and teachers,” the district said in a statement. “The event was meant to be historical, not theological.
