Donald Trump Questions Hillary Clinton’s Religious Faith
Presumptive Republican nominee makes overture to religious right at gathering of evangelicals

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump questioned Democrat Hillary Clinton’s religious faith while affirming his own at a private gathering of hundreds of conservative evangelicals in New York on Tuesday.
Mr. Trump’s overture to the religious right came one day after he fired his campaign manager and reported raising tens of millions of dollars less than Mrs. Clinton, heightening concerns in the GOP political establishment about his readiness for the general election.
The religious leaders at Tuesday’s meeting are potential officers in a grass-roots Trump army in November. But when eight of the event’s organizers were asked at a press conference whether they would endorse him, none raised their hands, though they said he made progress in earning their support.
In a meeting earlier Tuesday with a few dozen people who arranged the event, Mr. Trump suggested that Mrs. Clinton’s religious faith was some sort of a mystery. The former secretary of state and New York senator is a Methodist.
