Related: About this forumTurkish government publishes cartoons 'glorifying martyrdom' to children
A series of drawings were published in a magazine by the Diyanet, Turkey's ministry of religion , that show a parents 'glorifying Islamic martyrdom'.
In the colourful comic strip, called 'may god bless our martyrs, may their graves be full with holy light', children appear to ask their parents about becoming one.
Hurriyet Daily News reported that one child asks his father in the cartoon: "Why would someone ever want to be a martyr?"
The dad replies: Who would not want to be in heaven?
Another child reportedly says: "I wish I could be a martyr," and her mum replied: "If you want that much, Allah will, insallah (God willing), give you that good deed."

A statement near the last picture reads: Our prophet says: a martyr feels the pain of dying as much as you feel pain when being pinched.
Another statement attributed to Prophet Mohammed says: A martyr would love to go back to the real world and be martyr ten times more after the honoring and prestige they receive in the heaven.

(49,533 posts)1. Horrifying. And Turkey is supposed to represent "moderate" Islam.

The 'like feeling a pinch' appears in the full Mirror headline, for instance.

As opposed to the one that religious loonies inhabit, I imagine.
