Transgender Catholics Can't Be Godparents, Vatican Says

Alex Salinas, 21, is a Spanish Catholic who was assigned female at birth but identifies as a man. In June, Salinas requested to become his nephew's godfather, but his request was denied, Spanish media report. He was not eligible to become a godparent, his church said, because he is transgender, which is incongruent with Catholic teachings.

Salinas's bishop, Rafael Zornoza Boy of the diocese of Cádiz and Ceuta, initially reversed that decision but reached out to the Vatican's doctrine-enforcing arm, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, for clarification, owing to "confusion among some of the faithful" and "the complexity and media attention garnered by this issue," the Catholic News Agency (CNA) reports.
On Wednesday, the Vatican rendered judgment, agreeing with the initial decision against allowing transgender Catholics to become godparents. In a statement, the Vatican said it is "impossible to allow" a transgender person to become a godparent, according to the CNA.

this has nothing tondo with aiding the spiritual development of a child, in fact, one could argue the adversity a transgender person faces gives them more to offer.

the important thing is to shame and humiliate the sinner. Out of love, of course.

It's just everyone in the organization that he leads and could change at any time he wants.

But he can't because reasons. And murder.

7. So the Vatican says no transgender person can be a True Catholic?

But they don't think that's discrimination. It's not about who the person has sex with (or not), or lives with (or not); just being transgender "reveals in a public way an attitude opposite to the moral imperative of solving the problem of sexual identity according to the truth of one's own sexuality" so "this person does not possess the requirement of leading a life according to the faith". And they think that's "objective".

If there's something wrong with the employees, there's something wrong with management. The rationale here being that management is responsible for shaping corporate culture.

It's amazing how those who would agree with this premise when it is, say, Denny's franchises treating black patrons like shit, totally lose their fucking minds when we start talking about the Roman Catholic Church.

He also said this:

Where the questions of religion are concerned people are guilty of every possible kind of insincerity and intellectual misdemeanor.
