creator of all we see and are

Let me first say, if this offends any believer, I say humbly, I don't care. The creator is NOT a friend of humankind and especially certain subgroups and races inhabiting this planet. At 67 years old and trying to hold on to a "mustard seed" of faith, actually a grain of sand worth, I must say that if the creator had been a friend, we would have been created with a humble and peaceful nature that the one alleged to be evil could not have compromised. But compromise our nature, that entity did.

The mess that is a world being destroyed by us is our making. The air, water, climate destruction are leading us toward mass extinction. NO DOUBTS. We are led and some of us are continually deluded by humans who will put profit before survival and continue to destroy this planet right up to the three "tipping points" that are bearing down on us.

The agenda(s) of those who have written holy books, one in particular have not done so with pure hearts. No matter that holy book says all who add things not from the creators wisdom will suffer added misery at personal extinction and any christian knows the rest. That did not stop certain christian denominations from creating a system whereas certain races are superior and others inferior. Thus causing generations of warfare, misery, destruction, hate and genocide. The recent Israeli/Palistinian warfare is a prime example. The genocide of the native-American and black slavery another. CHILDREN were massacred by 'gods chosen' in the name of some religious duel that has been going on since Adam and Eve? Sarah and Abraham.....

America is a different example of the interpretation of one holy book. In 1980 I had a spiritual epiphany that started well enough, my faith was restored and renewed. I felt alive once more with a feeling of spiritual awakening(s) that all proved to be false. Proved hurtfully false by the leaders of the religion I choose to worship my creator, in total faith. One of the leaders, after they thought I was hooked and awed enough by their spiritual connection with the creator, one day, without equivocation, let me know that while I was a christian I was inferior and different from other christians by virtue of my skin color. And that my having a partner/sig other who was of a different race than I could not be tolerated in his church and that if we did come to his church we would have to sit separately, because some of the members were getting offended and upset by our relationship. I almost lost it on his sorry ass. Lucky for him I still had a little conscience left. After that experience, I was through with organized amerikkkan religion. His church has grown since then, so I guess he's a 'blessed one' in the creators eyes...you know apple of the eye and all that GARBAGE. It is a major denomination that is still racially segregated and racist toward POC to this very day, although I must say the POC that attend that church can only be applauded for their 'faith' in the righteousness of their pastor, in that church. When I attended that abomination of a church I, dumb me , sat in a among all worshipers, that included east indians with darker skin, who were not segregated by color. But their hair was straight. Something I started questioning...ahhh the beginning of my metaphorical (this is not catholic church, just to be clear)excommunication. Sunday the most segregated hour in all of america. Wonder why?

A creator that can give the human race religions that have divided us by race, sex, sexual orientation, permit enslaving one human by another 'superior' human is not my idea of a "loving creator", even if that creator did send a "son" to 'die' for us. Just wanted to get this off my chest, while I'm struggling with my distaste for religion today before I leave this site till the primaries and GE.

I can't take the primaries. I can't take the infighting. I'll be back, late in the General. I just can't do it.

I don't want to pick a side. I don't want to be a part, again, of allies destroying each other.

There's no upside for those left behind in seeing voices of reason walk away, but if that's what it takes for you personally, then I can only wish you the best of luck, and offer a note of anticipation of your return.

3. If it's any comsolation, Dante placed them in the eighth ditch of the Eighth Circle of Hell.

The Ninth Circle was reserved for Cain, Judas and Satan.

Whenever I think of people who give me grief, my first thought is to wonder what ditch Dante would consign them to.

But I always think of the relevance of 14th-century fiction to real life, yes indeed.

The principle has roots as far back as Aristotle.

But I thought we were discussing Dante having god throw people into ditches, no?

"Occam's Razor" until the 19th century.

I'm referring to the logical principle, but you're aware of that, surely.

You have yet to provide an explanation as to why someone should seek balm for their existential angst in knowing what ditch Dante said god threw some people into.
