Oscar Winners Thank God A Lot In Acceptance Speeches, But Not As Often As You'd Think

Oscar winners always thank God, right?

Wrong.

The stars who win big at the Oscars aren’t looking to heaven during their acceptance speeches -- they’re looking at Steven Spielberg.

The renowned American film director is thanked more often during Oscars acceptance speeches than the Good Lord Almighty himself, Vocativ reports.

Imagine if Craig Hicks had not been backed up by his God of Metal, and the three Muslins that he murdered had survived, with only a few bruises and broken ribs, to thank Allah for being alive, instead.

Can you imagine how these three Muslims would have been treated here this forum for having the audacity to thank Allah to be alive?

The only reason why they weren't the target of derision here in this forum is because they are dead.

The only good Muslim is...

If there had been say 20 people killed en masse and those three were spared by a random chance, the killer ran out of bullets say, and then they thanked Allah for sparing them yeah they would probably come in for some criticism.

As far as Christians go so many of them forget their Bible or never read it in the first place.

Matthew 5:10.. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

So if you persecute Christians you are helping them get something they really really want, doing them a favor actually.

If this is a real concern, we should probably eliminate Thanksgiving.

Just think about how many people die every year on Thanksgiving.

There is this meme that if someone thanks their god for sparing them, they are somehow saying that their god does not care for the ones that died.

This is completely twisted logic.

You are correct. If they had survived and thanked their god, they would have been ruthlessly mocked and derided.

It's the logical consequence of stating you believe a God chose to save you while others perished.

I realize that it's par for the course whenever someone points out a clear folly of religion, they need to be personally attacked and shunned rather than even acknowledge the point they made.

But FFS at least let's be honest here. If you are preferred by a god, then others are not as preferred. And that's a horrible attitude that can lead (and has led) to some horrible things.

It's not a fucking "meme."
