Murder of Iraqi-American Woman May Not Have Been a Hate Crime

http://news.yahoo.com/murder-iraqi-american-woman-may-not-hate-crime-103922375.html

I remember when they first put this out there they were calling it a "hate crime" because they were hoping it would overshadow the real hate crime at the time (the murder of Trayvon Martin). But it turns out the only hate here was from the victim's own husband.

Search warrants in the case of Iraqi-American woman who was beaten to death last month suggests that there may be more to the story than just a case of anti-Muslim violence. According to court records obtained by the San Diego Union Tribune, the victim, Shaima Alawadi, was looking to divorce her husband and move to another state, while her 17-year-old daughter, Fatima, was also distraught about being forced to marry her cousin. Fatima Alawadi also reportedly received a cryptic text message shortly after the attack saying, "The detective will find out tell them (can’t) talk."

I think the MSM was desperately looking to have something to detract from the Trayvon Martin incident, so they tried to set this up as a hate crime. They knew from the start that it probably wasn't, as it was obvious that the victim's husband was angry that she was trying to get a divorce.

Usually when a woman is killed it is a male relative who knows here well a brother, father, uncle, boyfriend, husband, etc. The trend seems to be a bit more stark when it is a Muslim woman, too (domestic violence is a huge problem in culturally conservative homes). 30 years ago when there was a big wave of Asian immigration there were a lot of Asian women who were victims of abuse. Maybe it's a socio-economic thing too, who really knows.

I used to volunteer at a women's shelter and it was very nearly 50% white, 50% Muslim. One young lady who I got to know quite well was shot in the kneecaps and then set on fire because she was dating a black guy against the wishes of her parents. Sad really, but I would have liked to see that prosecuted as a hate crime instead of all the hand-wringing about "Islamophobia".

Especially Muslim women in conservative households because of the way that culture views women.

Men are more likely to be victims of violent crime in which they don't know the attacker, but statistics show that in cases like this it is very likely someone who knows the victim well. It happens in non-Muslim families where there is the threat of divorce too because if the man gets away with it he can collect on the insurance money and avoid having to pay alimony or whatnot.
