The universitys attempt at religious pluralism brought out the worst in people who equate the peaceful Muslims on campus with the barbarians of ISIS.
Earlier this week, Duke University announced that it would allow its Muslim community to broadcast the adhan, or traditional call-to-prayer, from the universitys iconic chapel tower. The adhan takes just a couple minutes. It would only be delivered from the tower once a week, on Friday afternoons, for the jummah prayer service.
The decision, one Duke dean wrote in the Raleigh News & Observer, was part of the larger commitment to religious pluralism that is at the heart of Dukes mission.
That mission, presumably, has not changed. But Thursday night, Duke changed its mind about the adhan.

They have nothing to do with religion, as we're all aware. My suspicion is that it's just a land grab, like always.

What he did was have donors threaten to pull their funding.
To compare that with what happened in Paris trivializes the deaths of twelve good people at the hands of vicious terrorists.
Comparison: Fail.

Duke University has canceled plans for Muslim students to sound the traditional call to prayer from the schools iconic chapel tower amid threats of violence and a backlash from anti-Muslim groups, conservatives and Christian leaders.

A school spokesman and a Duke Muslim leader said that a serious and credible security threat played a role in the decision.

that the next step after allowing the call to prayer would be Campus wide Sharia law.
