Councilman announces 'Jesus is the reason for the season' at menorah lighting ceremony

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/12/18/1352804/-Councilman-announces-Jesus-is-the-reason-for-the-season-at-menorah-lighting-ceremony

Bud Williams, city councilor in Springfield, Mass., stood in the court square earlier this week and participated in a holiday tradition.

“Jesus is the reason for the season,” Williams said at a Tuesday ceremony, according to MassLive.com.

His remarks wouldn’t really be notable, except that Williams was speaking at a menorah lighting ceremony, to mark the beginning of Hanukkah.

It was a calculated ploy to pay homage to his Evangelical supporters.

Christians determined they don't need to be nice anymore. When it comes to being nasty, or caustic, or demanding, or opinionated, or self serving, Christians have it in the bag.

Are his constituents letting it slide?

I wonder what the reaction would be at a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, if a Jewish politician proclaimed; "Jesus was not the Messiah"?

Or, God-forbid, an atheists politician said "This is all myth and fairy tales."?
