Interfaith bigotry.

SALT LAKE CITY — An LDS Church leader will join Pope Francis and other faith leaders this month at an interreligious Vatican conference that seeks to "support and reinvigorate" marriage between a man and a woman.

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be one of more than 30 speakers at "The Complementarity of Man and Woman: An International Colloquium."

Pope Francis, who last year said "It is very important to reaffirm the family, which remains the essential cell of society," will give the opening address at the three-day conference Nov. 17-19.

Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Hindus are among those representing 14 faith traditions from 23 countries.

The Elephant God, The Sun God, Allah, Jesus' Dad, Waheguru, Offler the Crocodile God, the Tetragrammaton, Blind Io, Bono...et al. Bit of jostling for turf, I'd imagine. Let's hope the fighting is brief and good-natured.

Although, who gets to tell the Muslims how many wives the "traditional" husband is allowed? How will the Mormons deal with people who aren't white?

At least any women allowed to be there will be able to get together in a separate room and wash up or something while the men discuss the Important Stuff.

I guess that what happens in the Vatican stays in the Vatican.

to perpetuate bigotry and the deprivation of basic human rights. And hey, as long as they're finding "common ground", it's gotta be good, right? Or so the usual gang of apologists here always argue. I'm sure they're all a-twitter about this because it's an interfaithy thing, and they'll take one of those warm fuzzy diversity pictures before they sit down together to plan their bigotry.

Coming together in religious belief to hate others. Isn't that just precious. Strange, I thought religion was always sunshine and rainbows and unicorn farts.
