Jackson aims to lead religious delegation to Syria

(03-21) 10:26 PDT GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson says he is working to lead a delegation of religious figures to Syria to help find an end to the violence that has wracked the country.

Jackson told The Associated Press on Wednesday that "an internatonal delegation of religious leaders" is trying to go to Moscow and Damascus "if they'll let us in."

He didn't elaborate on who would else would be part of the group but said "you never know which voice will finally resonate."

Jackson says the delegation would press for an immediate cease-fire, aid access and the start of political negotiations between the government and the opposition.

My first introduction to Rev. Jackson was when I heard him preach in Chicago as part of Operation Breadbasket.

He was moving and sincere. Powerful man.

That would be extremely dangerous; and I doubt it would accomplish anything.
