Well, at least the SECULAR government did something about it...

(3,596 posts)It is only when they are held to "Caesar's" laws that the abuse will stop. They can no longer rest assured they are protected by the papal skirt (and flaming purses and big hats). They must be held to account the same as any other citizen. The fact you are a priest means nothing before the law.

(5,352 posts)As much as I agree with everything else you said, it isn't sad to see this priest go to prison. He sexually assaulted children over a period of 18 years, and they're the only ones who deserve sympathy here.

(7,670 posts)Priests and other clergy require nor need special consideration when following the law, and why are you being sympathetic to the priest, the only victims here were the abused, and their abuser is going where he belongs.
To whom? I wonder if the 8 boys this piece of filth raped are "sad" that he's going to prison. Just because you dress up in a funny outfit and claim to communicate with a deity doesn't make you immune to our laws. If anything, Catholic priests should be looked at as MORE likely to commit crimes against children than the greater population given that they are members of an organization that will coverup and move offending priests to other jurisdictions so they can continue to prey on kids.
