Roman Catholic priest jailed for 22 years for sexually abusing eight boy

Alexander Bede Walsh, of Church Lane, Abbots Bromley, carried out the attacks while working at children's homes and churches between the 1970s and 1990s.

Walsh, 58, was found guilty of two serious sexual offences and 19 counts of indecent assault at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

He was convicted of offences against boys aged between eight and 16.

It is only when they are held to "Caesar's" laws that the abuse will stop. They can no longer rest assured they are protected by the papal skirt (and flaming purses and big hats). They must be held to account the same as any other citizen. The fact you are a priest means nothing before the law.

Do priests hold some higher moral ground than the rest of us or something?

As much as I agree with everything else you said, it isn't sad to see this priest go to prison. He sexually assaulted children over a period of 18 years, and they're the only ones who deserve sympathy here.

Priests and other clergy require nor need special consideration when following the law, and why are you being sympathetic to the priest, the only victims here were the abused, and their abuser is going where he belongs.

To whom? I wonder if the 8 boys this piece of filth raped are "sad" that he's going to prison. Just because you dress up in a funny outfit and claim to communicate with a deity doesn't make you immune to our laws. If anything, Catholic priests should be looked at as MORE likely to commit crimes against children than the greater population given that they are members of an organization that will coverup and move offending priests to other jurisdictions so they can continue to prey on kids.

Especially with regard to the kids in children's homes. As if they didn't have enough problems without some pervert molesting them. Sadly, it's one of many such cases.
