Frontline on PBS tonight, "Secrets of the Vatican"

Might be of interest to some here.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/religion/secrets-of-the-vatican/amid-vatican-disarray-pope-francis-set-a-new-tone/

"One year ago this week, Pope Benedict XVI did something that no other pope had done in nearly 600 years — he resigned the papacy.

It was a decision that sent shockwaves through the Vatican. Just eight years earlier, Benedict had promised a new beginning for the church at a time when it was reeling from the clergy sexual abuse crisis. But rather than stem the scandal, the crisis only grew."

I always have to record Rachel M at the hour Frontline airs in my area, so I will record the 2am repeat broadcast, hoepfully while I am asleep.

This kind of event is more momentous than that one American President, Nixon, who did the same thing, resign, within less than 200 years of America's founding. I wonder if Benedict will be remembered like Nixon someday, or worse.
