The homemade sling shot

I was thinking of home defense weapons and decided to read up on sling shots. Since the topic wouldn't fit under the SOP of GC/RKBA, I thought I could post it here. The slingshot can be used also be used for target shooting and hunting of small game.

In this youtube video, I loved the way the guy made his and thought it could form the basis of what I'd really want and could easily build myself (minus the laser).

Joerg Sprave has an interesting design, "The H", which looks to be very powerful and he talks briefly about it in the below video along with two other types of slingshots.

Seriously, they can do some damage, but I'd expect that the type with a wrist bar would be easier on the joints and more capable of a greater force draw.

I'm not built like that one guy in the video is. I think the design shown in the 1st video can easily be modified to include one along with the rollers and bars of the "H" slingshot.

But if you want one that can crack a brick, you'll have to make your own.

8. I think I'll buy one come spring

I have enough space on my lot to set up a target range of up to 50' in length. The house would be the back drop but as i plan on residing in 2-3 years, I wouldn't care too much about the occasional stray shot hitting the house. In bad weather, I could target practice in my 24' long garage.

I always had to wear a glove on my left hand. Sometimes those surgical rubbers can snap your knuckles.

11. I remember messing around

with those wrist rockets when I was a kid. I don't remember ever getting in trouble with one, but I do know they were illegal to shoot in town. Since our propty line was the city limits, we'de go into the field next door to fool around wirh them. There no windows to break either.

14. I think I can make this out of 3/8" black iron nipples and fittings

No drilling or cutting. The gap between the 3/4" outer handle and 3/8" inner handle could be taken up by washers and the washers could be held in place at the top and bottom with nuts threaded on the 3/8" nipple.
