Bucs have released QB Josh Freeman

The Bucs have released quarterback Josh Freeman.

Unable to find a trade for Tampa Bay's beleaguered quarterback, general manager Mark Dominik announced Thursday that the team would cut ties with the 17th overall pick in 2009.

The Bucs will be responsible for paying Freeman the remainder of his salary, roughly $6.25-million.

Now they don't have to absorb the contract but rather come to an agreement with Freeman which would be significantly less than what they would have to pay for him if they traded him.

I guarantee another team picks him up within the next few weeks.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman is signing with the Minnesota Vikings.

Freeman's agent, Erik Burkhardt, made a one-word announcement on Twitter before confirming his client's decision to The Associated Press.

The Vikings gave Freeman a one-year deal worth about $3 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

All totaled, Freeman will make more than $11.4 million until he becomes a free agent this winter, factoring in the $2.479 million the Bucs paid him at the start of the season, the $5.9 million in termination pay from the team, and his new deal with Minnesota.
