Piers Morgan bloodied after facing 150 kph over from Brett Lee

Piers Morgan (the CNN journalist) has been full of lip over the poor fortunes of the English cricket team, who are currently 4-0 down in the latest Ashes series with Australia.

Former Australian bowler (pitcher) Brett Lee challenged him to face an over (a set of six deliveries), which he accepted.

Two things:-

1) In cricket, unlike baseball, it is legal to hit the batsman (even deliberately) as long as the ball bounces beforehand.

2) Because of the bowling action peculiar to cricket, bowlers are slightly slower than baseball pitchers. Only two cricket bowlers have ever clocked faster than 100 miles an hour.

3) Unfortunately for Piers, Brett Lee is one of them.

there is a lot even the bowler cannot predict. Then add in that the ball can be legally arrive anywhere between ankle and head high, that what would be regarded as spitballing is perfectly legal. Check out the great Shane Warne first ball in Test cricket
