I've maybe twice seen the runner get away safely. They're not playing fundamental baseball.

that runner, Pedroia, is a 2013 Golden Glove winner who has participated in a ton of pickles and mastered the mechanics. He had it totally figured out with that perfectly timed final fake check-up that allowed him to blow past the first baseman. No one was covering first! No one! Yes, a breakdown of fundamental baseball.
