Mets pitcher grew up in tornado town.
Mets pitcher Jeremy Hefner grew up in Moore, OK. He went to the Briarwood School.
There was no phone service to the area so he had to watch on TV not knowing what happened to people he knows there.
Ironically, today he was at a previous commitment to volunteer at a Food Bank for Hurricane Sandy victims in Far Rockaway. He said later that friends and family came through it all without harm.
