Maybe this year.

I didn't want to get my hopes up and say it too soon, and then watch it die going into the Break, or see the wearing down of August bring a string of injuries...

And now it's almost the beginning of Sept, so I'll risk saying it...

Granted. There's still a lot of opportunity for it not to be this year.

And I don't -really- want to put an exclamation point on that and push it too hard... because you know, I follow the Cubs and have a phobia about goats.

Nope, not a fan, just another follower.

But it actually looks like -maybe this year- is a reasonable measure.

They got their Mojo working, for sure (exclamation point).

The Cubs came real close to dipping below .600 (.601) after the All-Star game, but they are back on track with a very impressive .641. Here's hoping my Giants play the Cubs in the National League playoffs. Hell, the way my team is playing lately, the Giants may have to beat the Cubs as a wild card team.

when they would be 40 games over .500. 41 if things continue in their current trajectory tonight. But, trying not to get my hopes up, even though the Cubs have taught me how to deal with crushing disappointment. Don't want to have to test this skill again.

I'm not a fan or climbing on the bandwagon, but keeping an eye on things.

A Cubs/Red Sox World Series would be a treat.

It was the Mets one-hundredth win of the year. They went on to win 108 games and the 1986 World Series.

This West coaster had a job eight blocks away on Clark Street, and I was able to get all the subs out and make the game by the fourth inning. Bleachers, beer, and baseball; I was in pig heaven. And happy to watch a game at the venerable Wrigley Field before they installed lights.

This Giants fan would not be unhappy if the Cubs go to the World Series.

That was an an amazing ninth inning.

I have been a Cubs fan for sixty years. I have a thing about goats, too. Then, last year, there was that ball player named Murphy. That was the goat's name.

Goats can come in many forms. Sometimes, they can be called Bartman. I was there for that one.

I am afraid to say too much. But it could be the year.
