You handle front office and drafting, Bill could focus on coaching. I think, given their personal history, that might be a good thing for my beleagered Patriots.

He has continued to help those in need by working with and for Habitat for Humanity.

I wish him and his family well and hope he gets to enjoy “things.”

… issues and depression. He does this quietly but he works hard on it because he lost his Dad as
teen to suicide. Sometimes football doesn’t matter. Btw people forget that Ohio State was a chunked
field goal from winning a national championship last year.

and couldn't believe my ears. The man is the gold standard of college coaches, and if he wants to spend more time with the grandkids, or on a beach reading a detective novel, then happy trails to him. He's more than earned it.

8. I remember reading a story about him

which I believe was in Sports Illustrated or ESPN Magazine some years back. It told how he was having a casual conversation one day with the women's basketball coach who was talking about a girl she was trying to recruit to Alabama. Saban invited both the coach and the girl to an Alabama football practice and said he'd show them around. In the meantime, he went to all of his assistant coaches and told them that when the girl showed up at practice they were all to go over at various times, introduce themselves and then sell her on attending Alabama. Well, they did and she did. Going that extra mile like that for a colleague really impressed me.

It also impressed me when he and his boys steamrolled Ohio State for the '21 national championship and he instantly became public enemy #1 around these parts

Basically when you move to AL, people ask you to declare which team you’re for, UA or AU. Even growing up n FL, my family were UA fans. A long story short, I worked at UA as a senior attorney during the Stalling years.

Anyway, I have always been fascinated by Saban’s behavior. His aggression on the field, and his shyness off the field. Truly a great coach!
