(56,177 posts)My bet...Carmelo wanted him gone and they went with the talent's wishes as opposed to the coach's.

(29,322 posts)considering their road streak was against the NBA's toughest teams starting in Boston, with back-to-backs @Dallas and @San Antonio. Their one home game was against the great defensive team Philly flying out to Chicago the very next day. I thought they would be fine once they settled into a stretch of home games. That is why it surprised me.

(81,883 posts)"Knicks are 2-9 since Carmelo came back. He had no incentive to play for D'Antoni. He might be gone at the end of the year when his contract is up. This is about Carmelo, not D'antoni. Etc."

(56,177 posts)a few articles noting that carmelo had won...the media is picking up on this being Carmelo's doing.

(81,883 posts)I guess the new coach lets Carmelo shoot more? So what! They were already losing under that setup. The only time the Knicks have played well over the last two years was before Carmelo showed up and while he was out this year.

(65,248 posts)Made a big splash hiring a coach with a high flying system. Then makes a big splash trading for a guy that absolutely does not fit that system. And btw, that trade made Anthony's old team at least as good, if not better, than they were.
So, now the coach has lost the locker room. Maybe because Carmelo has been doing so much pouting and the whole room has a pall cast over it.
They were winning against bad teams, and getting slapped around by good ones. Sounds like the definition of mediocre, which is pretty much what Denver was when he was there.
