The NFL, of course, reserves the right to punish Hill later on if the public find out what they swept under the rug. They learned that lesson when they tried to punish Ray Rice again when the video of him punching his girlfriend got out.

Rather than say they didnt have enough evidence, they should have said we believe we can sweep this one under the rug, so were going to try to do that. If it doesnt work, were going to pretend to be outraged and bend to public pressure.
