2. That, and how it corresponds to attendance

At the end of the day, the bean counters might care less about world series trophies than do filling up the stadiums

4. Expect some extraordinary play from Pablo Sandoval this year....

because his sweetheart deal ends this year and his favorite fan, Bruce Bochy won't be around next year to put the buzz in the front office's ears. Pablo Sandoval loves SF because he's mapped EVERY Panaderia in The City and he likes what he found.

5. Yeah. He's already had some big pinch hits early in the season.

Few weeks ago one of the Chronicle beat writers wrote how much Sandoval is welcomed in the clubhouse -- how he keeps things loose and light and fun. It's going to be a frustrating season and they need someone like that. I think that's partially why he made the roster (that and his versatility and low price tag).

Still believe if the right offer comes along Sandoval will be traded.

6. Sandoval basically took over Hunter Pence's unofficial role as team spokesman

I've heard him interviewed a few times this season, and, well, I was surprised at where he's coming from; despite his propensity for laziness, he really, really loves the game.

Sandoval will become a free agent in the fall, so he's motivated to play well this season to position himself when contract talks begin.
