Kam Chancellor announces retirement from football
The Seahawks have lost a lot of their ranks in the recent months. And, apparently, they've lost one more.
Kam Chancellor took to Twitter to share announce that it is "time for the next chapter," apparently retiring from football.
"I always prayed to God and told myself that I would play this game of football until the wheels fell off," Chancellor wrote. "Well the wheels didn't fall off, but God has given me a sign that I can't just ignore."
The veteran went down with a neck injury against the Arizona Cardinals last season (in the same Thursday-night game that saw Richard Sherman tear his Achilles tendon, no less), striking a serious blow to the team.
In January, head coach Pete Carroll said that he thought Chancellor and defensive end Cliff Avril (who was suffering from a similar injury) would have a "hard time" playing again. Since then, Avril has retired.
While Chancellor seemingly hinted at retirement earlier this year, so far no hard news was shared about whether he would be returning to the game. In May, Chancellor made his feelings about returning to the Hawks clear, stating "If my body says I can play, I'm playing. If my body says don't play, I'm not playing. I'll listen. I'm a very good listener."
