Congrats, Ichiro Suzuki

DENVER -- With one more iconic swing while moving out of the batter's box, Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki entered historic company on a towering triple off the right-field wall at Coors Field.

The drive off Rockies left-handed reliever Chris Rusin in the seventh inning of Sunday's 10-7 Marlins win made Ichiro the 30th player in Major League history to reach 3,000 hits.

SNIP

In his professional career, Ichiro has 4,278 hits -- 1,278 in Japan and 3,000 in Major League Baseball. Pete Rose, MLB's Hit King, finished his career with 4,256 hits in the big leagues.

Ichiro's hit tied him with Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente for 29th all-time and made him just the second player to collect 3,000 hits after turning 27. Rose recorded 3,353 of his hits after turning 27. Ichiro, 42, joins Hall of Famers Cap Anson (45) and Rickey Henderson (42) as the only players who were 42 or older when they recorded career hit No. 3,000.

Per this, he hit all but one home run to right field. Apparently, he's disciplined enough to only try to pull it when it's the right pitch to hit.

That's sort of amazing. What would there be to criticize enough to have a post removed about a guy who just got his 3000th MLB base hit?

He won 10 gold gloves. 300 something stolen bases too. And, after his first season or two, guys stopped running on him. He was scary strong and accurate with his throws.

Also, i heard that he is the only guy in MLB history to have gotten 200 hits or more in each of his first 10 seasons. Not Cobb, not Rose, not even Keeler. And, Rose played the 162 game season his whole career, just like Ichiro.

One more note: He started, at one point in his career or another, at all 3 outfield positions.

Guy just knew how to play the game.
