Boxer Adrien Broner Accused of Violent Robbery w/ Gun

TMZ Sports: ...has obtained official documents which show Broner has been charged with felonious assault and aggravated robbery and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Multiple sources connected to the case tell us the incident in question went down around 3:30 AM on January 21st -- after Broner and another man had been making high stakes bets with each other at the lanes. The alleged victim told police Broner had lost thousands of dollars in bowling bets and was pissed when the alleged victim decided to...go home...

Broner waited for him outside of the alley and punched him in the face and neck -- nearly knocking the man out cold. According to court docs, Broner "then retrieved a handgun from his vehicle, approached the victim, demanded money, then struck (the victim)...this time causing the victim to be rendered unconscious. Broner was then observed taking money out of the victim's pockets while he was unconscious before fleeing the scene."

We're told the alleged victim was hospitalized -- and needed stitches to close a gash on his chin.

That much have been quite a gash Broner opened up if it took two months to heal sufficiently enough that the victim could talk to the cops. Sounds like Broner can't tell when he's on or off duty, making him a perfect candidate for my Next Aaron Hernandez award.

Muggers take money because they want or need it, or simply because they can -- they don't take money BACK because they're sore losers about losing it. (Broner should have made the bet double or nothing: he wins, the bet is instantly cancelled; his opponent wins, Broner owes him $12K on credit instead of $6K.)

And it's called the NEXT Aaron Hernandez award because his criminality was able to escalate to the level of murder due to his being too talented for either the law or his sports employers to care.

BoxingJunkie/USA Today: ...(T)he alleged victim is Christopher Carson...he and Broner met two years earlier...Carson says...the(y) played...bowling games...with one teammate apiece. (His) lawsuit claims Broner requested a side bet with Carson from $500 to $2000, and that Carson won $8000 from Broner and then another $6,000 on credit...(W)hen Broner wanted to wager $6,000 on a final game, the request was declined, which upset Broner...The detective on the case didn’t have enough information at the time of the alleged incident (Jan 21 2016), but video evidence emerged, as well as information from credible witnesses that led to the charges officially being field...

Broner is currently training in Washington (DC)...the Metropolitan Police Department...has been notified...(The) Police Information Officer for the Cincinnati Police Department (says) “He could turn himself in, fly to Cincinnati, be processed and receive a bond and be released until trial date is set. If he’s apprehended out of state, the police might hold him until we get there to pick him up...(but) we are not sending officers to D.C. If he...turns himself in, then he can make bond and get released to fight. Or it’s possible no bond will be set and he’ll be held.”

His next fight is on April Fool's Day? Well, here's hoping the joke won't be on him...

Cincinatti Enquirer: According to the lawsuit:

By the end of the night, Carson had won $14,000, the lawsuit says, but Broner wanted to bet another $6,000 on a final game. Carson didn’t agree to that, the lawsuit says, and Broner “became upset and left the bowling alley.”

When Carson left a short time later, at about 3 a.m., Broner was waiting for him with a group of eight men...

Broner needed EIGHT helpers, and he beats up people for a living??? Well, that takes this case into conspiracy and accomplice territory -- the judge could "hit" Broner with eight counts of each if he was feeling particularly generous.

It also casts an interesting light on the video evidence: why did it take three months to surface -- was it offered to the highest bidder first? Did the cops find their "credible witnesses" by identifying Broner's "employees" on the video and threatening them with additional charges of being a co-conspirator and an accomplice?

WLWT: Adrian Broner will be in the ring for a nationally televised bout next Friday, but the champion may be mounting his best defense at the Hamilton County Courthouse where he faces felony assault charges.

Broner remains out of jail on a $100,000 bond...and will be allowed to train and fight in Washington, D.C. next week, but he will be outfitted with an electronic monitoring device upon his return to Cincinnati.

The article doesn't specifically say he turned himself in. Is Broner still in DC -- was this arranged over the phone? Did his lawyer finally convince him of the gravity of the situation? Or did either the boxing commission or the TV network tell him that while they're willing to presume his innocence, he would not be allowed to fight as a fugitive from the law?

WCPO: Broner, a champion boxer, was arraigned in Hamilton County Tuesday after turning himself in on Monday morning. He was a walk-in to court and is not custody, his attorney said. He was given a $50,000 bond...

He still went through with the fight on Friday night -- although he missed weight and had to change opponents -- and won, but his attorney said he planned to turn himself in...After he bonded out Monday morning, Broner's only remarks for WCPO's cameras was "Vote Donald Trump."
