Tennessee women’s basketball is unranked for the first time since 1985

The Associated Press released its latest women’s basketball top 25 on Monday, and there was one very prominent absence.

The Lady Vols suffered their second loss in three games Sunday, a 57-56 defeat at last-place LSU that put their record at 16-11 for the season, 7-7 in Southeastern Conference play (the 11 losses is tied for the most in program history). Tennessee, which began the season ranked fourth in the country, is just 6-8 in its last 14 games and now is unranked for the first time since Feb. 16, 1985, a stunning development for a program that has eight national titles and was runner-up seven other times.

That's why Notre Dame still plays them...if you want to beat the best in the tournament, you have to be familiar with their game..ND gave UCONN a good game last year's final largely because they played them so often previously...and they gave them a good game this season...the closest game UCONN has had.
