The Associated Press released its latest womens basketball top 25 on Monday, and there was one very prominent absence.
The Lady Vols suffered their second loss in three games Sunday, a 57-56 defeat at last-place LSU that put their record at 16-11 for the season, 7-7 in Southeastern Conference play (the 11 losses is tied for the most in program history). Tennessee, which began the season ranked fourth in the country, is just 6-8 in its last 14 games and now is unranked for the first time since Feb. 16, 1985, a stunning development for a program that has eight national titles and was runner-up seven other times.

(56,177 posts)That's why Notre Dame still plays them...if you want to beat the best in the tournament, you have to be familiar with their game..ND gave UCONN a good game last year's final largely because they played them so often previously...and they gave them a good game this season...the closest game UCONN has had.
