Related: About this forumOlympic medalist Debi Thomas talks about her path to Virginia trailer
http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_29263165Now 48, and in the news for far less glamorous reasons, the ice princess who grew up in San Jose says she isn't about to flinch at her latest challenge either -- a fall from grace that has left family, old friends and the figure skating world stunned....
The Stanford alumna and 1986 world champion has lost two physician jobs and filed for bankruptcy in Virginia, where she now lives in a trailer with a recovering alcoholic and his two sons. Her predicament became national news last month when she was featured in an Oprah Winfrey Network show called "Fix My Life with Iyanla Vanzant."...
Instead of returning to the medical career she pursued after skating, Thomas is trying to raise $10,000 through a GoFundMe campaign launched last December. She says she wants to use the money to start a YouTube program that talks about ways to change the financial and health care structure in America....
Writing on Facebook the day after appearing on television, Thomas referred friends to a 55-minute YouTube preview of what she and Looney want to do. But it turned out that the final half hour is an infomercial for a company that sells gold bars, and whose practices have led Quebec authorities to issue a consumer warning against it.

Still room in the clown car, Debi!

(7,286 posts)1. Interesting read. I knew her first husband
Good looking kid but very quiet and reserved, lived on the outside of town in the country. I can see why he could not handle her fame.
Her life story has a lot of twists and turns....sounds like she is trying to turn it around.

by running that video. If so, then doesn't sound like she has turned a corner.
