Big plays define Sooners' win in Waco

The Oklahoma-Baylor game was rousing from the start. The Bears made their share of plays, but the Sooners made more, and the grades reflect a 44-34 OU victory.:

Seems like forever since Baker Mayfield kept OU alive with his feet at Tennessee. But Mayfield was up to his old tricks vs. Baylor. On the game-sealing touchdown drive, Mayfield scrambled for a 17-yard gain, scrambled away from pressure and found Dede Westbrook for an eight-yard gain, scrambled for a seven-yard gain on second-and-goal from the Baylor 14-yard line and finally scrambled away from all kinds of trouble and rifled a seven-yard touchdown pass to fullback Dimitri Flowers. Earlier, Mayfield had huge gains of 34, 17 and 17 yards off scrambles.

Baylor all-star Corey Coleman had just three catches for 51 yards; he came in with 58 catches and averaging 147.2 yards per game. Cornerback Jordan Thomas was superb in covering Coleman and got a lot of help. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham threw Coleman’s direction just six or seven times.

1. Assuming they win out, will the committee overlook that loss to Texas?

Texas really does stink. Should be interesting who they choose and certainly a few teams left out will feel they were robbed.

and Oklahoma and O-State win out the next couple of weeks, I really think the winner of that Bedlam game will be in the playoff. The only bright side of that God-forsaken Texas game is we can say (a) it was early in the season and (b) it was a rivalry game. A loss like that is sometimes excused.

3. Oklahoma State plays Baylor, I think, still...

A win would really help their chances, a loss the committee won't overlook...I just wonder if OSU loses to Michigan if they still make it in. An 8-team playoff really is the only fair way...5 has a grip, but you can't say #9 has a gripe.

4. OSU plays Baylor this weekend. If OSU loses the situation changes dramatically.

Ohio State still hasn't played a ranked team, so who knows what will happen in that game?

Oh, and I'm with you on the 8-team playoff.

5. If this Saturday OSU beats Baylor and TCU beats OU then OSU is the conference champ.

They already beat TCU so it doesn't matter if they lose Bedlam.

I've not been in the sports forum in ages, so hey to a fellow OU fan (I assume).
I cussed at the TV all night and DH finally banished me to my office where I streamed the game.
Way too stressful!
