The San Diego Chargers' and Oakland Raiders' plan to become the teams that move to Los Angeles are set to receive a big boost, with reports Wednesday morning they've brought Disney chairman and CEO Robert Iger in to oversee their bid to build a stadium.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora and Sports Business Journal's Daniel Kaplan are reporting the agreement, with the teams expected to announce the move soon.
Citing sources, La Canfora writes that Iger will become chairman of the teams' bid to build a stadium in Carson, Calif., and the move could propel the Chargers and Raiders to begin play in the Los Angeles market as soon as the 2016 season.
Chargers and Raiders executives, along with execs from other NFL clubs, are in New York for a "significant" meeting with NFL officials on Wednesday.

(31,178 posts)You can't blame the Raiders ownership group. The potential for higher seat license and luxury box fees and sales of more team merchandise outstrip what can be generated in the Bay Area.
The ownership group always wanted to return to L.A. It's evident when they wouldn't consider partnering with the 49ers in planning Levi's Stadium.
Good-bye Raiders.

But seriously as a life-long fan, if the Raiders leave Oakland for a 2nd time, I'll leave them for good. Mark Davis sounds increasingly like a stereotypical politician because all he has done is doublespeak; he claims to want to stay here, but has a foot out the door. Loyalty is a 2-way street, and this franchise hasn't been loyal to the local fans over the decades. It's like being in a relationship with a cheating spouse. Our city deserves better. I'll also give up my allegiance to the A's and Warriors if they move, too.
