Bart Starr Week in Wisconsin

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker finally does something useful -

Gov. Walker proclaims Bart Starr Week
Updated: Nov 03, 2015 3:34 PM CST

Madison (WKOW) --- Governor Walker proclaimed November 1-7 as Bart Starr Week in Wisconsin.

“Bart Starr is a football legend,” Governor Walker said. “His iconic athletic performance in the ‘Ice Bowl’ in 1967 was historic and strengthened what it means to be a dedicated Packer fan in our state. Bart Starr made Wisconsin proud both on and off the field, including with his family’s support of numerous charitable organizations throughout the state. We are honored to recognize this incredible athlete and proclaim this week as Bart Starr Week in Wisconsin.”

My folks knew I lived and died with the Packers then and ordered it for me. Had to be one of the best presents ever for me .

He always came across to me as a total class act. There aren't many like him in sports nowadays. There certainly are some, but they are always overshadowed by the loudmouths and criminals.

but I guess he and I would have to talk only football. He probably isn't too interested in Marxist theory.

Interestingly I read that he is making some improvement from his stroke due to the stem cell therapy he is receiving. Maybe that will change some repug minds on that issue (you never know ...).

Nothing matters to Republicans unless it impacts them directly. They lack empathy. I'm not sure if they were born without it or had it surgically removed but it's gone. Nancy Reagan is a huge supporter of stem cell research and that hasn't stopped them so.... yeah.

I agree, Starr is a legend. And he is charitable (albeit with religious connections only). I'm in Wisconsin, born and bred, we try not to mix politics and the Packers, but sometimes it happens.

Though I will freely admit growing up with Fran Tarkenton as my idol and I still love the guy for his role in making me love the NFL, but he too, alas, is a Republican dickhead.
