Something's going on.
Kyrigos is on the verge of throwing away a promising career...seems more interested in keeping his bad boy image going than actually winning...
The top men looked all good so far.

(34,111 posts)I can't imagine what is happening. I have not had the time to see the whys of it all so at this point I am just disturbed by it. If it was enough for me to notice there must be something unusual about it.
I wish Kyrigos would cool it. He has so much potential.

(56,177 posts)The weather can be brutal in NY this time of year...a tough tournament especially since it pretty much comes at the end of the season and lots of players are worn out.

(56,177 posts)But in reality it is, because the summer is long...the Aussie Open is months before another major, and then the final 3 are pretty much crammed together. The Aussie was long a forgotten Slam...hardly anyone played it because of the travel involved in the 1960's and even 1970's.

(72,790 posts)Though I agree he needs to focus more on tennis instead of trying to be a bad boy. But I love his bad boy image, think it's sexy and exciting. I like players that are characters.

(56,177 posts)Characters are one thing, an amazing lack of maturity quite another...I really think he's going to fade from the scene very soon if he doesn't get his sh*t together.

(72,790 posts)He has time to grow and mature. I hope he does.

(56,177 posts)But I'm not seeing any sign he is...McEnroe never stopped being a jerk, but his was more of a strategy to get inside the other player's head...not seeing that with Nick.

(32,064 posts)but it looks like easy pickings for Serena. Can't stand Kyrgios. It's not like he's 15 - this is a 20-yr old. Reminds me of Gulbis ... the natural talent is there but he won't be able to pull it together.
Stan won in 3 tie-breakers...I can't see him winning this one...he's not in the zone like he has been at times....still waiting for Roger...agree about Kyrgios...a jerk.

(56,177 posts)There may be more, but it's at least 13 now...what a miserable place to be..NY in late August or early September.

(72,790 posts)Fognini ousts Nadal in a five-set thriller. Epic match.

(77,081 posts)..... you wonder, "How the hell is he not a Top 10 player?"
But he can't seem to keep it up. Watch him lose in straight sets in his next match.
