Astros’ Mike Fiers tosses first no-hitter in Minute Maid Park history against Dodgers

Astros righthander Mike Fiers added another brilliant chapter to what already has been a surprisingly magical season Friday with a brilliant no-hitter at Minute Maid Park.

Fiers fired a 90-mph fastball past the Dodgers’ Justin Turner, hunched down and then jumped up and tossed his glove in the air and waited for catcher Jason Castro as the crowd at Minute Maid Park roared.

The veteran righthander sealed the 11th no-hitter in franchise history and the first at Minute Maid Park with his career-high 134th pitch to beat the Dodgers 3-0 before a crowd of 33,833.

Fiers, a 6-2, 198 pound righthander from Pompano Beach, Fla., limited the Dodgers to three walks with 10 strikeouts for his first career complete game to open a three-game series.

I hope the Astros manager gives him an extra day or two rest, he threw 130+ pitches.

he still has the undocumented yapping miniature mutt as his avatar.

Chico is a possible menace to society:

- Chico has torn ears, which suggests a past history -- recent and or distant -- of dog-fighting.

- Chico has eyes that are at once dilated and bloodshot. This is surely because he is high on illegal street drugs at this very moment.

- Note that Chico's studded collar no longer fits. This is because he is emaciated due to his being afflicted by the full complement of venereal maladies.

- One might see the black markings above and below his left eye as a scar of some sort. The top marking is indeed that -- from an alleyway knife fight. The bottom marking, though, is a teardrop tattoo that commemorates his time in the joint. He could've been paroled in four years with good behavior. Alas and alack, he was a bad dog and served the full sentence.

I wonder if they have Chico's green card?
